By the way, every version of the movie comes with an intro by ridley scott and the final cut comes with 3 different audio commentaries. It also comes with a long documentary titles "Dangerous Days: the making of Blade Runner." Disc 4 is packed with extras, including promotional material, screen tests, numerous featurettes, and deleted and alternate scenes. While the 4 of them are generally similar, the small differences make a very huge impact on how you will see the movie.
This futuristic world is accomplished through dazzling special effects and scenery. Now onto the DVD. The film Blade Runner is a dazzling look at a futuristic world (even though now in 2009 it's not far away).
This version is a 4-disc collection and comes with 4 versions of the movie: the theatrical version, the international extended cut, the director's cut, and the Ridley Scott final cut. Highly Recommended. The movie focuses on Richard Decker, a "blade runner" whose job is to target artificially manufactured humans and "retire" them.
On an assignment, he encounters a special replicant, named Rachael and starts to fall in love with her.
I believe the movie is missing some special effects the original one had.Don't waste your time on this version get the theatrical. I have not seen this movie in a while but I am not very happy with The final cut. When I originally saw the movie theatrical version I loved the special effects and the characters, I can't explain it but the characters in this movie, were not very dimensional.
Ford's character chooses to see the replicants as human, and he shows this by loving one and leaving the old world he knew behind. But the narration fits with the 1940's detective feel of the movie, and the ending I take as a metaphor for escape from moral ambiguity. And, yes, I like a happy ending. *Spoiler Alert*I got this four DVD set of Blade Runner just so I could get the original 1982 version, the only version I like. The Director in the intro dismisses this version as the one "with Harrison Ford's narration throughout the film" and "with the improbable ending".
A must. This movie is the paradigm by which all other sci-fi flicks must follow. The "making of" disc contains hours various things.
The best transfer to High definition to date of one of the best movies ever, that got a revision from his director that is a perfect example of how to review a product that ages so well with years.I think there will not be a review or even a Blu-ray offering as much as this one offers in years.
